About Quebec city

Quebec city is celebrating this year !

Quebec city is about to bloom like a flower this summer. Many recent improvements are making this city even more pretty and enjoyable than ever. Visit the official web site to find out more about what the organizing committee has in store for you.

Musee de la civilisation

The Musee de la civilisation, a public corporation, was inaugurated in 1988. It is located in the region's Capital, Québec City, in the heart of an historic district and close to Place Royale, the site of the foundation of French America. Its architecture is a perfect example of integration into an historic environment.

Musee national des beaux-arts

The Musee national des beaux-arts du Québec's collection includes more than 22,000 works, produced mainly in Québec between the beginnings of the colony and the present day.

Musee de l'Amerique française

The Musee de l'Amérique francaise, the oldest museum in Canada, has its roots in European religious and educational traditions. Located in a building that is part of the Séminaire de Québec site, founded by Monseigneur de Laval in 1663, it is the witness and the herald of a colourful past, worthy of the world's greatest epics.

What an atmosphere !

New France Festival SAQ

August 5th to August 10th 2008
The only one of its kind in North America, the New France Festival will transport you to another era with its re-enactments, atmosphere and hundreds of costumed festival-goers.

WHAT TO SEE OR DO ?

Here are some of our suggestions in addition to what is mentioned on the left.

Off course, visiting the old city is the first thing to do both during the day and at night as many of the buildings are lited up at night. It is amazing how much time one can spend just hanging around in its small streets, stopping for an iced coffee in one of its cafes or admiring the interesting points of view that the old city keeps offering to the eye.

The architecture of its buildings and the fascinating location of the old city on the top of a cape overlooking the St-Lawrence river explain it all. The section of the city below the cape is also beautiful with its closeness to the water and the little streets all tucked in between the water and the cliff.

To visit:
-ESPACE 400e the heart of the festivities

- The Old Port's Farmers' Market, local vegetables and fruits, hand-made produce, home-made goodies, nice view on the Marina, lots of fun !
- Montmorency falls
, panoramic views on the city, Island of Orleans and St-Lawrence river
- Orleans Island, the country side just 10 minutes away from the city
- Cap Tourmente, National Wildlife Area
